Liver Detoxification... Why should I care? 🤔

We look at two phases when we talk about liver detoxification. Phase I and Phase II. There are a plethora of nutrients needed in order for both phases to really work. 🤩

If one Phase becomes ‘sluggish’ or ‘backed up’, think about how this might throw a wrench in the system. That’s why we want to have a diverse dietary intake.

✅ Nutrients needed in Phase I:

  • Vitamins B2, B3, B6, B12
  • Folic Acid
  • Glutathione
  • Flavonoids

✅ Nutrients needed in Phase II:

  • Methionine
  • Cysteine
  • Magnesium
  • Glutathione
  • Taurine
  • Glycine
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin B5, B12
  • Glutamine
  • Folic Acid
  • Choline

One big takeaway here is that there are numerous amino acids required - which are the building blocks of protein. So this is yet another reason to include proper amounts of complete protein sources in your diet! 🥩🍽

By eating food from within the four detox categories you'll get all the nutrients needed for both Phase I and Phase II liver detoxification to work properly. Yes! There's a a reason why we created excatly those four categories.
