Probiotics... Not to be confused with prebiotics!

Missed last week’s article? Click HERE to read about prebiotics. 🤓

PROBIOTICS are live bacteria found in certain foods and/or supplements that deliver a health benefit to a person’s digestive system. We want a balanced amount of both probiotics and prebiotics in the diet to ensure a healthy gut microbiome.

Fermented foods, which contain probiotics, can be beneficial in these ways:

✅ Help provide certain enzymes that help facilitate proper digestion.
✅ Can help eliminate or crowd out any overgrowths of harmful bacteria.
✅ Great source of food-based beneficial bacteria.

You should be aware that if you have any issues with histamine intolerance or bacterial overgrowths in the gut, caution should be taken with eating fermented foods since they are high in histamines. Start slowly by including one probiotic or fermented food source per day and reassess from there 🥰

When we have a healthy gut microbiome, again, the downstream effects on the detoxification systems are improved. We need to be eliminating (pooping!) regularly and on a daily basis so that toxins are removed regularly and not recirculated back into the body.

So you heard that right friends, get your 💩 together and get it out of your system!
